Veja is a French brand of sneakers , bags and accessories ecological and fair trade . Created in 2004 by Sébastien Kopp and Ghislain Morillion , veja is a brand since which make living many associations in Brazil and France . The brand was launched in February 2005 in Paris at the Palais de Tokyo, Present in Brazil since 2005 , they produce their footwear with organic cotton Ceará region and wild Amazonian leather. Cotton is grown without chemicals , by farmers' associations in the country . Most of them just Tauá , in Ceará . Production mobilizes 700 families who sell the raw material directly to the company .The rubber comes from the cooperative Chico Mendes , with 40 families who run their own business. They extract the sap of trees, without cutting , through a process which provides the transition to the factory and ensures a raw material without impurities. The other component of the shoe, the leather is tanned with acacia extract instead of heavy metals. The goal is to reduce water pollution.

The kilo of "responsible" leather costs R $ 7, double the average price in the market . Yet the price of a pair of Veja is not more expensive than other brands : between 65 and 100 euros. how? The brand does not do advertising ,which significantly reduces costs . Francis and Sebastian Ghislain sell more than 120,000 pairs each year , with 70 % of sales in France.Veja is not a perfect project.Fair trade is not blameless , ecological commitment either. There deadlocks , contradictions and promoting change .
Veja is a test, a work in progress . "This is the introduction to the limits of the Veja project , which you can find on the site . Are recalled logistics costs , synthetic rubber used for the insole , metal eyelets and non- natural dyes .The entrepreneurs also cite their initiatives to push the contradictions of fair trade, to create a 100% positive chain , from producer to consumer .

Until now, the priority was the European market. The duo now hope the courts will canvas the tastes of Brazilians. It's not easy to win market share by fair trade : the margins are reduced and the consumer must be prepared to purchase the product.

Name too closely associated with the homonymous magazine , Veja brand has found another name in Brazil : "Green" . This color , both associated with environmental protection and sustainable development for us, reminds Brazilians that tennis originated from the design to the French style.
